Restoration of our 1957 Probat UG22 Roaster
Bought in 2018 our Probat UG22 roaster worked tirelessly in its Devon home from 1957. Its original owner retired after 60 years of coffee production and wanted it to go to a good home.
In need of some love and attention after a long working life, It was sold and dismantled and made its way to north Essex.
We started its transformation in the summer of 2020. While COVID-19 raged around the world we were isolating on the farm, stripping it down and cleaning every piece, ready to be shot-blasted and powder coated - hours of polishing and plating, it has certainly been a labour of love.

With every nut, bolt and screw replaced and finally re-assembled, it stands in its fully-restored state.
Made from solid cast iron at the world-renowned Emmerich Machine Factory in Germany; It has its original green-bean loader, de-stoner and chaff collector making it a rare example of an original fully operational production line.
A thing of beauty!
Finally, warmed up and performing perfectly, we are roasting some mighty fine coffee.
